It was a birthday cruise for my wife — 4 family members with Captain John and the beautiful 26’ Cat ‘Manta’. We motored north to Blackburn Point, then south to Venice for dinner. Capt. John was informative and well stocked with stories, history and fun! He made 3 hours go by quickly on the perfect boating day. Had a wonderful time on a romantic Sunset cruise with just me and my wife for her birthday. Captain John is an amazing captain. The boat said happy birthday as we boarded. We cruised a lot of the intercoastal saw a lot of wildlife ,architecture and natures beauty, in the Nokomis casey key area. Also went out to the north jetty for sunset. We stopped at a local favorite Pop’s For old fashions. We also saw an amazing bird rookery, and learned a lot from his knowledge of the area and all the wildlife in it. also, he took videos and pictures for us the whole time so we could enjoy our trip and then sent them to us a few days after. Highly recommend booking a trip with Captain John and The Manta.
My recent experience with Seas the Day Charter in Venice Beach, Florida was absolutely amazing. Captain John was our guide for the day and he did an excellent job of taking us on a tour of the beautiful coastline.Captain John was not only knowledgeable about the area, but he was also a great host, making sure that everyone on board was comfortable and having a great time. He was patient and accommodating to all of our requests and questions, which made for a truly memorable experience.The boat itself was in great condition and well-equipped for our trip. This was by far our best day on vacation! I contacted Captain John last minute which happened to be mid-March and the start of more and more pandemic restrictions. He was able to take my kids and myself out for a couple of hours and even made accommodations with the other family that was with us so they could have boat time too while we played at a beach and yet not exceed too many passengers. He made sure the boat was sparkling clean when we got on and was wonderful with the kids! They loved having Zoey the dog on board and then winning a coconut once we spotted the first dolphin. It truly was a magical day and we would definitely make sure to book again if we can come back!

Captain John made our trip extra fun. We are from Iowa and this was our first trip to Florida. We had so much fun! We saw dolphins, a huge variety of birds, their rookery, boats of all kinds on the water and a beautiful sunset.We were well taken care of and now we have great memories of this day.
We had an amazing afternoon on Seas the Day! Fabulous circumnavigation from the North Jetty up to Sarasota on the intracoastal and then back along the coast. Captain John kept us entertained with many stories and lots of laughs. He even had special treats for our little dog. We saw dolphins and all sorts of beautiful birds. It was a highlight of our holiday! Thank you again Captain John. It really was epic!

Captain John could not have been more friendly, gracious or accommodating. We made a run from Nokomis up to Siesta Key by Gulf and then a Tiki Bar run down the Inter coastal - you need to do this. Add in a Sunset in the Gulf and it was as perfect a day as you could have. A must do!!!
Hi, I’m Captain John Gerhardt. I am a U. S. Coast Guard Licensed, Master Captain 50 GRT Coastal. I’ve been a “water baby” since birth. I was born in Chicago, where I spent my summers on Lake Michigan learning to swim and sail. I moved to Sarasota, Florida at the age of eight and had the privilege of living and growing up on the offshore islands of both Siesta and Casey Keys at Sarasota Bay.
